Melike Abacioglu is from Istanbul, Turkey. She is a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering. She will be joining Boston Consulting Group in their Dubai office upon graduation. She values international business experience and cultural exchange very much. In previous summers, she enjoyed her internship in Strategy and Portfolio Management at Bayer Schering Pharma in Berlin, Germany at their global headquarters, Mercer HR Consulting in Health & Benefits in San Francisco, and her Manufacturing internship at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Turkey and her Marketing experience at Glaxo Smith Kline USA Pharma as Stanford campus consultant. She speaks German, Spanish, Turkish and continues to learn Arabic. She values her chemical engineering background and experience in healthcare. At Stanford she enjoyed doing research at Bio-X on Nanobiotechnology and currently she is amplifying her own mt-DNA to trace her ancestry. She hopes to be influential on international conflict resolution, health care and education in the future. Melike loves diversifying her skill set by taking on non-correlated challenges such as being the Co-President for 85 Broads Stanford, a resident computer consultant as well as being a SLE writing tutor. In her free time, she loves dancing and continues to learn new dance types. Her new mission is to get on the ballroom dance team.

Leslie is a Stanford senior majoring in Economics, with strong interest in International Relations. She loved her summer internship with McKinsey this past summer doing general business consulting in San Francisco, and also enjoyed her sophomore summer at Citigroup in New York, rotating through the investment banking and sales and trading divisions. She loves traveling and learning languages (she’s learning Hindi, speaks Spanish, and knows very, very basic Chinese), and has been lucky enough to travel with her family and through Stanford to 47 of the 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico, England, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Portugal, and Israel. She is nowhere near being able to cook or drive well, and still has no clue what she wants to do with her life. She is very excited to meet all SWIB members, and looks forward to a great year!

Melissa is a sophomore from Los Angeles planning to major in Economics. This past summer, she gained invaluable experience interning at the Bank of New York Mellon, working in the Risk Management and Compliance Department, and she plans on pursuing a career in marketing or finance. In her spare time, Melissa can be found playing tennis, reading novels, or eating blueberries.

Sophia Tsai is a sophomore from Plano, TX majoring in East Asian Studies and minoring in Economics. She hopes to pursue a career in consulting upon graduation and is very interested in international business. Sophia also loves learning languages. This past summer, Sophia was a Claude Buss Fellow for the Volunteers in Asia American Language and Culture program, in which she acted as a resident assistant, English tutor, and activities planner for Asian exchange students from universities in Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. She also toured with the Stanford Symphony Orchestra in China and was a Head Orientation Volunteer for New Student Orientation 2008. At Stanford, Sophia is a flutist in the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and enjoys watching Taiwanese drama and anime when she has free time.

Natalie Cox is freshman from the scenic, coastal town of Gualala, California, who plans to study Economics and International Relations while in college.   She hopes to pursue a career in public policy or corporate law after graduation, and loves how SWIB explores a wide variety of careers and opportunities in the business sector.  During high school, Natalie was very involved in environmental research, choir, and the arts, and she hopes to continue these hobbies while at Stanford.  While at home, she also loves to explore the outdoors, sew, cook, and play the piano.

Kelly is a junior majoring in Computer Science with a focus in Human-Computer Interaction and a strong interest in designing user interfaces. She is currently a Residential Computer Consultant (RCC) in one of Stanford's row houses. Kelly also works as Publicity Co-Coordinator at Stanford's Women's Community Center, where she designs promotional materials for upcoming events. In her free time, Kelly can be found listening to music, bargain shopping, and studying at the Bookstore cafe. She is very excited to be a part of SWIB and would love to get feedback on the website!

Janice Wong hails from both sides of the pacific having grown up in both California and Hong Kong. She is majoring in STS and minoring in CS and has a strong passion for entrepreneurship. Janice has been an active member of the Stanford community and is also involved in Stanford Society of Women Engineers and the Asia-Pacific Student Entrepreneurship Society. This past summer, she interned at a local startup (still in stealth mode), doing product management and customer outreach. Prior to Stanford, Janice worked with the Olympic Council of Asia and has enjoyed traveling extensively. When she's not busy with Stanford related activity, she loves to dance and swim.

Luna is a sophomore from Plymouth, Minnesota majoring in Management Science & Engineering. Last year she was involved with Stanford Women in Business as a Mentorship Intern with Melike and Cindy as her partners in crime. The SWIB Mentorship program was a great introduction for her to the business world and helped her realize the impact SWIB could make on the professional development of young women interested in business. This year Luna is very excited to return to SWIB as the Director of Corporate Sponsorships. Outside of SWIB, Luna is also involved in the Forum for American Chinese Exchange, a organization on campus that is dedicated to promoting US-China relations, and Alpha Kappa Psi, the co-ed business fraternity. In her spare time, Luna likes to play tennis, listen to music, do crosswords, and watch movies.

Kristine Li is a junior from Hong Kong majoring in International Relations with a minor in Economics. Her work experience includes interning at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Hong Kong as an audit trainee this past summer, and previously for Citigroup as a securities and funds operations intern and also for a radio broadcast company doing marketing, both of which were in HK as well. She hopes to pursue a career in finance, possibly in real estate development, and plans to eventually set foot into China after having spent an amazing quarter abroad in Beijing. Beyond business, Kristine enjoys trying new restaurants, playing squash and travelling; she is also deeply enthusiastic about community service through teaching. Her travels have taken her to rural China and Nepal to work with underprivileged children. As the VP of mentorship this year, she is committed to bringing in successful businesswomen from the industry to connect with the talented ladies of SWIB, and hopes that through the mentorship program, our aspiring mentees will gain new perspectives, advice and inspiration.

Cindy Guan is a sophomore from Fremont, California, majoring in Economics and Public Policy. Because she has lived in the Bay Area bubble nearly her whole life, she has made it a goal to broaden her horizons in college, and has found SWIB to play an integral part in meeting that goal. She was a Mentorship Intern last year as a freshmen, and through that position, was exposed to the many different faces of business. Over the summer, she attended a widely-attended business conference that introduced her to various prominent organizations in the business world. She plans on carrying over these aforementioned contacts to her role as the Director of Corporate Relations, where she plans company visits, luncheons, and interactive corporate events with businesses in nearly every field of the sector. She hopes that these interactions will help all the aspiring young businesswomen in SWIB find their niche in such a multifaceted industry. Outside of SWIB, Cindy enjoys doing yoga, hiking to the dish, and her involvement in Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford (FACES), the Nomination Commission, and her teaching assistant role for the civil engineering department.

Christine Kang is a sophomore from Irvine, California, majoring in Economics with a minor in International Relations. She gained valuable experience as Events Intern last year with SWIB and is excited to lead the Springternship Program this year. In addition to her involvement with SWIB, Christine works as a Peer Counselor at the Stanford Career Development Center, where she holds appointments with students to clarify their interests and answer questions about careers, majors, internships, resumes, and much more. This year, she is also involved with BASES and the Blyth Fund. She spent last summer as an intern working in Marketing for St. Jude Medical, a leading medical device company. Her career interests lie in finance, especially international finance. As a result, she plans on studying abroad in Beijing next year and learning more about China's economy and foreign relations. After graduating, she plans to attend business school and then enjoy a fulfilling career. In her spare time, Christine enjoys playing tennis, learning languages, and traveling.

Doreen Hoang is an Economics major, class of 2009. In addition to Stanford Women in Business, she is involved with Gumball Capital, a non-profit microfinance startup. Doreen plans to pursue technology investment banking after she graduates, which encompasses both her interests in finance and technology entrepreneurship. Doreen is also very passionate about music, often performing percussion with various musical ensembles throughout the Bay Area, and can occasionally be seen blasting the trumpet at football games.

Anna H.R. Khan is a junior from Lahore, Pakistan double majoring in Political Science and English and minoring in STS. Anna is a published poet and strives to make her mark in the financial sector, equally pursuing a career in politics. During the summer of 2007, she interned at City Light Capital, a venture capital firm based in New York City that specializes in homeland security, alternative energy and media. This summer she interned at Goldman Sachs as a Summer Analyst in their Private Wealth Management division. She is an active member of the university outside of SWIB having been Elections Commissioner for Media, Financial Manager for Sanskriti - the South Asian Society at Stanford and Director of Public Relations for the Sophomore Class Cabinet. She was also involved with numerous groups on campus her freshman year, including the Undergraduate Advisory and Research Board, A cappella, and the Freshman Council. Currently, she is co-writing a textbook on U.S. Foreign Policy with Utah State University. Anna strives to bring together a community of ambitious businesswomen by emphasizing collaboration, business education, and a hands-on experience approach.

Sally is a senior from San Jose, California, majoring in Management Science and Engineering. This past summer, she interned at Deloitte Consulting in San Francisco. She also has valuable marketing experience working at ReVance Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical firm, Cooliris, a Web 2.0 startup, and Livescribe, a high-tech company. On campus, she is also one of the founders and co-CEOs of Stanford Marketing Group. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career in either consulting or marketing. In her spare time, Sally enjoys oil painting, scrapbooking, and traveling.

Stephanie is a sophomore from San Jose, studying Engineering Physics and Economics. An avid follower of trends and technologies in the clean tech and energy industries, she is currently doing research in the Chemical Engineering Department, more specifically, finding ways to convert carbon dioxide into fuel! She hopes to one day be able to combine her research interests in the renewable energy with clean tech entrepreneurship. She is involved in the Energy Crossroads group and Society of Women Engineers, among other groups. Aside from work, she loves traveling and tasting new foods. She looks forward to building a great SWIB community!

Sarahi Constantine Padilla is a sophomore from Orlando, FL who plans to major in Economics and minor in International Relations and History. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and is fluent in Spanish. Her business interests include investment banking, consulting and private wealth management. This past summer she was a residential counselor at Stanford’s Educational Program for the Gifted Youth in the Introduction to Business and Investigation in Business classes. She also participated in the Credit Suisse Undergraduate Explorer Program. Sarahi enjoys foreign films, traveling, going to the beach, and playing sports.

Emily Evans is a junior from Hudson, Ohio studying East Asian Studies and Economics. This combination of subjects is very fitting, as Asia's economy has been a long time interest of hers. Since graduating from high school, she has spent two summers in Tokyo, Japan. In 2006, she worked for the record label BMG Japan, representing international superstars such as Christina Aguilera, Brittany Spears, and Justin Timberlake, and the following summer she studied intensive Japanese at a university there. This past summer, Emily decided move into the financial sector, interning with Zions Bank's private banking division. Emily is really excited about her position this year, as she is inspired by the talented and motivated women that make up the SWIB community. Aside from SWIB, Emily is involved with Stanford Dance Marathon, Chi Omega, and the LDSSA.

Wendi Goh
Wendi is a senior majoring in Economics and minoring in Biology. Although originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she has also lived in the UK, China, Canada and the United States. This past summer she interned at Accenture Management Consulting. She has also worked at UBS Private Wealth Management and as a research assistant for the Stanford Economics Department. In addition to being part of Stanford Women in Business, Wendi is currently president of alpha Kappa Delta Phi(KDPhi) sorority, Marketing Director of The Stanford Quad, Marketing Director of Stanford Pre-Business Association, and an RA in Mirlo. In her spare time Wendi enjoys traveling, gourmet cooking, and writing.
Julia Greenberg
Julia Greenberg is a senior from Los Angeles majoring in Economics. She spent her past summer doing marketing and sales operations at Toyota’s US Headquarters learning about the automotive industry and hybrid vehicles. She also has experience working at Kayne Anderson, an investment management firm as well as InterEthnica, a marketing consultancy. Outside of SWIB, Julia has served as Vice Chair of Fellowships for Stanford in Government, connecting Stanford students with fellowship opportunities in state, local, and international government. She is currently learning to sail and ride horses. Julia is looking forward to planning this year’s SWIB conferences and welcoming high profile speakers to campus.

Becky Johnson
Becky Johnson is a sophomore planning to double major in Psychology and Economics. She is interested in the intersection of these two fields, and is currently doing research in the Psychology department in neuroeconomics and the brain processes behind economic decision making. This past summer, Becky was awarded a fellowship with the Psychology Department to pursue a research internship. Outside of SWIB, Becky is involved as marketing officer for Gumball Capital, a nonprofit focused on microfinance, and a director for WYSE, an all-female mentorship group that works with middle school students in East Palo Alto. In her spare time, Becky enjoys scuba diving, traveling, and going to concerts. After college, Becky hopes to go into marketing or consulting and eventually combine her academic passions of psychology and economics and pursue an MBA with a focus in organizational behavior.
Nicole Bitler
Nicole is a sophomore from Menlo Park, California, planning to major in Human Biology and International Relations. Over winter break, Nicole went to Ecuador to help doctors in a rural setting provide surgical care to underserved communities without access to medical care, and she has now taken an active role in Global Health Volunteers, Inc., serving on the executive committee with a focus on developing international contacts for students to pursue health trips. She is also Publicity Director for Nourish International, a Stanford student group devoted to implementing international development projects and Vice President of Philanthropy for her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. In her free time, Nicole loves to travel, sing opera, bake, and be outdoors!
