Womensphere: Inspiring & Empowering Emerging Women Leaders

Womensphere is a global community of women leaders comprised of over 7,000 women leaders, managers and emerging leaders across the fields of business, finance, technology, law, media, entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, public policy, and including graduate and undergraduate student leaders from leading universities and colleges in the US. 

 

Womensphere has the dual mission of inspiring, empowering and connecting women, and of bringing women and men together in partnership towards solving global and local issues. We are interested in collaborating with the Stanford Women in Business Group in enabling the emerging women leaders at Stanford to experience the benefits of joining the Womensphere community, including:

 

· Empowerment & inspiration through access to a community with capital and experience, interested in investing in the next generation of women leaders.

· Exposure & connections to our leadership community as well as our corporate & community partners through attending the Womensphere Global Summits & Womensphere Institute events.

· Knowledge, insight, mentoring, and opportunities for collaboration and partnership with thought leaders, CEOs, senior executives, entrepreneurs, and social entrepreneurs that are a part of the Womensphere community.

 

In 2009, Womensphere will host several forums focused on Inspiring & Empowering Emerging Women Leaders:

 

1)  The Womensphere Emerging Leaders Global Summit on August 15th in New York City at the TriBeCa Performing Arts Center, which will:

o  Comprise of an audience of almost 1000 emerging women leaders from countries around the globe

o  Feature powerful and inspiring speakers and presenters (Womensphere’s global summit speakers have included distinguished global and national leaders such as Rachel Mayanja (Asst. Secretary General for Gender, United Nations), Sally Durdan (CFO, Chase), Kathleen Rogers (President, Earth Day Network), Joseph Stiglitz (Nobel Laureate, Economics), and more.

o Offer a unique set of contests with Cash Prizes, PR Benefits and Publication for selected emerging leaders interested in showcasing their entrepreneurial/social entrepreneurial venture, and journalistic  

o Enable & empower emerging women leaders to join forces with Womensphere’s Community Partners, including world-changing non-profit organizations and networks such as the Global Fund for Women, ASTIA, ComedyCures Foundation, Golden Seeds, and Women Presidents Organization.

 

2)  The Womensphere Institute’s Emerging Leaders Series on MBA strategy, preparation and admission, taking place in May, June and July in New York City, and featuring Directors of Admissions and prominent alumnae from Harvard Business School, Stanford Business School and other top business schools.

 

An Overview of Womensphere:

· Our global conferences last year drew the participation of over 1,000 women leaders and over 150 thought leaders across all industries.

· In 2009, our global conferences will draw close to 3,000 leaders, and our Womensphere Institute event programs will reach over 5,000 women leaders.

· Womensphere’s corporate partners include industry-leading companies such as Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, Bridgewater, andNixon Peabody.

· Through our educational arm, The Womensphere Institute, we provide forums and networking opportunities that educate and connect women around the themes of leadership, strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation, community leadership, and social change.

We index publicly available information from the social web on hundreds of millions of people and build products and analytics on top of this data. We built the largest social graph in the world and we're building the platform to develop a myriad of applications.

Rapleaf's B2B arm provides deep insight about consumers for businesses. Business customers include retailers, airlines, hotel chains, social networks, lead generation firms, telcos, political campaigns, and more; these clients learn about their existing consumer base in order to provide them a better consumer experience.

Role:

- Work as an executive assistant to the CEO and support other execs

- Manage the office

- Schedule meetings for the team

- Prepare company financials

- Quick learner and real doer (and you err on execution over strategy)

Time Commitment:

      - This is a lot of work.  9a – 7:30p MTWT.  9a-5p F.  On-call on the weekends and nights.

      - High cash comp | high equity -- we are willing to pay for the best talent. 

- We’re happy to pay you significantly more than your current job.  Our philosophy: A-players rock.  So have fewer people and pay them more.

The Student Business Advisor will conduct individual student appointments focusing on resume critiques, individual mock interviews, job search strategies, and general information related to business. Work on special projects and programs to help students become familiar with the business environment. Attend bi-weekly meetings and on-going group training.  Rising juniors and seniors who have had business related internships are encouraged to apply.
